The Human Centipede
I watched The Human Centipede for a horror film, I watched this after our film and realised how similar they are. They both have a mental scientist, but in both we don't know why he is like that. The film shows teenagers, who typically in the human centipede get lost in the woods (while raining and at night). Our film like this, the teenagers go running straight to the woods where the dr finds them. I'm glad I looked at this film because I realised that this is a popular film, and we created something nearly the same - without even realising.

The target audience for Cinema city is aimed at an older generation, it’s also built within a historic building which is more appealing to older people. It is small, they only have three screens but it is definitely more directed at middle and upper class people, and again appeals more to older people because the evening they have a 18+ night where they can take alcohol into the screening with them. Most adults would also be interested in the independent films what they show.
I think our film would be shown at Vue or Odeon, for the fact that is a conventional horror, it’s a teen movie and as I’ve said, Cinema City is mainly for an older audience. Teens, children and Adults go to Vue or Odeon

Hit and Run
In this film, the final girl is being shown as a bad person from the beginning. She's at a party and she is drinking alcohol and drives home drunk, because of this you instantly think something bad is going to happen to her. Conventionally if a person in a teen horror drinks alcohol, has sex or does drug etc, then something is going to happen to them. When she drives home you think something will, due to:
- Her boyfriend seems a bit dodgy as she leaves the party
- It's night in the middle of no where as she drives home (in a wooded, secluded area) - another convention in a horror
- She crashes and gets out of the car fine but you think someone will get her due to being in such a secluded area

Comparision of two opening horror scenes
For this task we had to pick two horror films and compare the two opening scenes to them.
For my first one I picked ‘Prom Night’, I thought it was good as it was a typical horror opening I chose this one because it’s a teen horror and it’s what we will be doing in Media lessons. She’s the typical American blonde that they want to put in movies. It keeps us wanting to watch this because she mentions when she says bye to her friends that she won’t be going on holiday with them because ‘of everything that’s happened lately’ but we don’t know what’s happened, leaving us wanting to find out. The lighting as she gets in the house is dull and the scene is quiet. She starts calling for her family, but no one hears her and as she goes upstairs there is a shot of her dad, who has been killed, it is also night.
The second one I picked was The Children, they arrive to their families’ house at night time, we already know who the last girl is going to be as they focus on her a lot at the beginning. The young boy of the family gets sick, but they blame it on travel sickness not knowing he has a virus that makes him a killer, we know something is wrong as in the background there is creepy music. There families’ house is near woods and in the middle of nowhere, typical horror. The family are wearing casual clothes as they are only going to their families’ house. It keeps you watching because you expect something scary to happen because of the creepy music, but doesn’t, so you end up keep watching. To begin with once they arrive, nothing does seem wrong, you get a shot of them all having a laugh in the kitchen but this is where their son acts strange.
They are very similar, but I think prom night is the better one as you don’t see her family die, you just see the expression on her face, and it keeps you watching because you want to know what’s happened to here lately and why her family died. With both films we know to start with who the last girl will be, as the camera focuses on both of them a lot. Both houses are family homes, but in prom night, her house isn’t in the middle of nowhere, surprisingly.

Costume Research
In our film we decided to use a man who would be a science teacher, but the 'typical' mad scientist, we know we that he's a little creepy from how he's acting...
But our cast member Laura doesn't think anything of it and carries on within her work.
A lab coat would be the perfect costume for 'Dr Karloff'

Casual clothing are going to be worn by the teens, there isn't going to be a school uniform.
